What is Spravato?

Spravato is a new antidepressant medication (intranasal esketamine) indicated for treating treatment-resistant depression, taken in conjunction with an oral antidepressant. It is administered at Paramount Health Directions under professional supervision as an intranasal medication. Administration sessions last up to two and a half hours to monitor tolerability of the medication.

How Does Spravato Work?

Spravato targets the N-methyl-d-aspartate (NMDA) receptor, and it is believed to work differently than currently available oral antidepressants. This believed mechanism of action allows access to new brain pathways and a better response to medications patients are either currently taking or add on at the time of treatment.
